“I did a screenwriting class with Dr Ben Crisp a few years ago and found him to be a passionate, down-to-earth, and incredibly generous lecturer. Right from the beginning, he fostered a sense of professional respect and trust. He was always encouraging, deeply observant, and genuinely interested in human behaviour, just like any great screenwriter.
Working under his supervision, I completed the screenplay for The Captive in a relatively short time. We also held several writers’ room sessions where we efficiently discussed character development, story logic, and narrative arcs.
Ben gave me the space to write, let us find our own voice as writers, and knew when to step back and when to offer thoughtful, non-judgemental feedback – always respecting each writer’s personal style and sensibility. His insight and warmth left a lasting impression and made the writing process truly inspiring.
The film went on to receive several awards, including multiple Best Film prizes, Best Screenplay, and an Audience Award at festivals across Europe, the US, Asia, and Australia. I’m very grateful – thanks, Ben.”

“Do muses exist? Yes they do.
Ben is enormously creative, like an overflowing jar of ideas, and is a great teacher and mentor to his students. Very receptive and encouraging, he will help you develop any idea you come up with, bringing out the best in you as a screenwriter.
As a graduate of one of his classes, I cannot recommend him enough.”

“Ben didn’t just teach how to write — he reminded me why I wanted to write in the first place.
Before joining Ben's screenwriting course, I had already explored storytelling through multiple channels. Yet, none of them ever helped me complete a script. I was chasing structure and techniques, but had lost touch with the creative spark I had as a child — the version of me that once dreamed of being a screenwriter or director.
Enrolling in Ben's course was meant to be a fun break from my work in data analytics. But from the very first class, Ben created a learning space that felt open, thoughtful, and deeply human. He reminded us that creativity is a muscle — not lost, just dormant. That single idea lifted a fear I’d carried for years: that I might never feel imaginative again.
The most transformative part of his course wasn’t just the writing skills — though those were taught with clarity and care — but Ben’s invitation to live a value-driven life. It resonated with me in a way I didn’t expect. I realised that the joy of writing doesn’t come from external validation or financial success, but from telling stories I genuinely care about. For the first time, I stopped writing to meet an expectation and started writing for myself.
With Ben’s guidance, I edited my first script four times, and each draft revealed something new — not just about the story, but about myself. Without even intending to, I began seeing parts of my own experience reflected in my characters. Writing became not only creative work but also a form of self-discovery.
What’s been taught has been more than just a screenwriting course — it's been the most meaningful learning experience I’ve had since graduating university. In a world full of technical training and AI-powered content, it’s rare to find a teacher who truly encourages students to explore, reflect, and take creative risks. Ben does exactly that. He teaches with empathy, intelligence, and a quiet confidence that empowers others to find their voice.
I came in hoping to learn screenwriting. I left with something even better — the belief that my voice is worth hearing.”
